Finding a job during recession seems like a rugged nut to crack. Companies are laying forth, cutting their personnel costs, freezing recruitment and optimizing their current staff. Amidst all this, if you are a job seeker, it could be very difficult. However, not all is lost. It may be rugged but it is not unimaginable. An electropositive and structured approach can assist you get a job. If you have been laid forth, or are a refreshing graduate hunting for job, you ask to dig that you are not the merely one. Globally, thousands have been laid forth and immature jobseekers are becoming unbelieving about the job market. The insecurity and uneasiness is instinctive but you should not allow it bog you downwards. Keep your career as the preponderating concern in your head and focus on the positives rather than feeling dejected about what is electronegative around you.

If you are presently in a job and your company has started laying forth, do everything potential to throw on to your job. Do a little redundant to ensue your meriting. Make certain you are important to your company. However, if you nonetheless get picked up for the pinkish slip, tackle the situation with a naturalistic attitude. Have a plan to firm your career in these turbulent times. Your first priority should be landing a job even if it is on a lower salary. Keep your pride and ego away and handle job hunting only as a process. These are rugged times and making your ego a stumbling block will simply ache your prospects of getting employed.

While job hunting, do a plan and stick to it. Devote part or entire time hours in prosecuting job opportunities. Everyday, do certain you network with peers and friends; find leads and openings on web sites, newspapers and job boards; set customised resumes and frost letters and direct them to possible employers. If you have worked in other companies earlier, assay reaching them and glimpse if there is any appropriate opportunity for you. Even if you have to do stale name sin the HR departments of companies that you experience can employ you, don’t waffle. Appear for interviews and do not fear rejection. The job market is Black so the probability of your getting selected in the fist or second interview is low-toned. The mantra hither is perseverance. Be reproducible and don’t infect up.

                            ]]>

Also, you must look at new sectors and jobs. This might turn out to be an opportunity time for you. If you have researched companies and jobs of interest and are still seated bailed-give, assaying looking at new avenues. You could look at other jobs of interest and in fact look at pursuing your hobby as your career. Even if you don’t want to change industry in the yearn-run, just gets a job flop now to add on to your experience and keep the pay Cheque coming in.

In a nut shell, it is of no use to sit in rue. Keep contacting people. Call up HR managers or people in the company of department of your interest to see if they have any opportunity that suits you. Meet friends and business acquaintances over coffee or lunch. These people could be instrumental in finding you a job at this time. Don’t attach emotions to your job search during the time of recession. This could prove antagonistic-productive.

Before you attend question, put in an extra effort in researching about the accompany. Read up about the latest developments in the company or their new product launches. Talking about these things will leave a good impression on the interviewer. After the interview, don’t forget to follow up with prospective employers. Call the person who interviewed you, send an email or a passed write thank you note. This will keep you in top-of-the-mind memory of the interviewer.

While all sectors are being affected by the current recession, there are still a few sectors which are less affected. FMCG is a potent defensive industry as the demand for daily consumption good generally remains stable. It is definitely safer than sectors such as IT and realty. Even telecom, pharmacy and financial services are good sectors at this time.

Another thing that one can do at the time of recession is improving your skills. Just take a stock of your skill sets and see if you need any improvement. Recession and being laid forth just might be a blessing in disguise as it will give you time and scope to pursue a new course. Learn something new as no education ever goes waste. It will only enhance your chances of getting a good job. Also, you will feel better and more confident while cheating hunting and any break that you took in cheating hunting will be swollen-justified. So, not all is lost in recession. That elusive job will definitely come your way.

Industries all across the board are withal on bouldery picking emmerging from the recession, but tight going consumer goods look to be increasing stronly. The number of sales jobs are increasing but nevertheless at a somewhat lower rate than pre-recession. It would be a full idea for anyone who is interested in this type of career to prosecute it, there is unquestionably a possibility to find some job security in this field. Everyone needs consumable products to last and no matter how big the economy is these are demanded services. Consumer passing on FMCG products dropped during the recession but are in the process of returning to normal levels.

However, there are withal numerous problems in this industry that will act time to iron themselves away on a world-wide scale. There are important problems related to dairy products in Europe and there is nevertheless volatility in this area like America as good. Regardless of the current instability things are on track to getting rearwards on track and is a potent industry when it comes to job security. FMCG sales jobs are ever uncommitted in this industry if you are unforced to work on commission but. It does not cost any peculiar employer anything to let you to work for them unless they are needed to pay you a salary or hourly wage on top of your commission.

For job seekers who trust to participate this arena, it is urged to bid away a job that is commission but to begin with. Most of the positions that accost salary or hourly wages for this type of position have applicants who already have a full amount of experience in this field. Of course having a decent college degree for this type of work will increase your chances importantly, but not all people who desire to carry FMCG sales jobs have acquired education. This is an interesting field because working for an employer who sells sugar or tobacco can have vastly dissimilar employment requirements than an employer who focuses on fruits and vegetables.

There are a number of unlike paths one can move when engaging one of the FMCG sales jobs. Each alternative product can possibly involve a drastically unlike sales approach and it is significant to cognize everything about the product potential. This is an extremely profit-making market if you can manage to clear an ample volume of product. The profit on each single item is relatively little compared to other kinds of products but on the other hand you can clear the same products to the same customers for retentive periods of time.

Consumables ask to perpetually be replaced so there genuinely is no possibility of this market altogether collapsing. If you are already lettered in this field and are referred about the chances of finding a full job there is no involve to fret. Vacancies in this market are however in eminent demand and there is plenty of room for entry level employees as good.

So is January just going back to normal, just a slow start as people return to work and put out the fires and will start thinking about HR and recruitment in Feb/March?

I don’t have the answer, but I haven’t seen anything that points towards a great year for the job market. It will be much slower than last year and good candidates will still get good jobs and average candidates will have to work harder and wait longer to secure their next role.

We have seen more companies trying to recruit themselves through SEEK and print advertising in the past 3 months. This may continue but you need resources to do this and the success is more hit and miss than you would think. Remember to do those reference check guys.

Any feedback is most welcome.

ANZ released its’ monthly Job Survey data yesterday and it was very grim reading. The last two months have shown falls of 5.9% in October and 8.6% last month. This two month period is the biggest fall in the index since its inception over 30 years ago.

Warren Hogan, ANZ head of Australian economics, made this astute observation;

“The latest job advertisements data suggests the global financial crisis has had a substantial impact on the Australian economy in the December quarter”

The redundancies continue to roll in with ANZ playing its part yesterday, giving 2 weeks notice to middle managers, analysts and researchers not required on the merger of Institutional and Corporate Depts.
